Endeavoring to get in all our last minute summer fun, the kids and I took a trip to the Northwest Trek Wildlife Park last week. Seeing as this was my first time, I’m pretty sure I was more excited than them. I packed lunches and drinks and we were on our way. It was just a short 15 mile drive from Yelm up the SR702 to the Eatonville Cutoff Rd. It was such a lovely drive, and upon arrival I was even more thrilled when the nice man in the ticket booth announced that each ticket was $4 off. Yeah!
After purchasing our tickets and receiving our tokens for the Tram Ride we started on our “trek” around the park to check out the wildlife. The trails are all well maintained and a very easy stroll. What a beautiful state we live in! The forest is so inviting, and the thrill of seeing an animal in its habitat, even if it is just doing what it does best…sleeping…it is exciting!
We were out in Bear Country when we realized it was time for our Tram ride. We hurried to the line and got on board. What a treat! The tram is a 50 minute guided tour through 435 acres of meadows, woods and lakes. We were able to see bison, elk and mountain goats up close, just to name a few.
By the end of our tram ride, lunch and more exploring we were ready for home. But not before we purchased three, cute little stuffed moose to take home with us. It was a donation directly to Northwest Trek so it was an easy $5 to spend for a great cause.
The park is open year round, and I am already looking forward to going again in the winter because I’m sure it will be a whole new experience.

"This is Lance Saunders, and buying a house with Cari was one of the most painless things that i have ever done. I have bought cars that were harder to buy than our new house! i simply told Cari and Kim Harmon with Fairway Mortgage service what I had to work with and they made it happen for me with less than a total of $1000 out of pocket. i would have bought a house a long time ago if i had known how easy it could be with the right people working for you. Thanx again Cari and Kim you ladies are awesome!
