I have tried a variety of hanging plants for my porch over the years.I like to add that little patch of color to the neutral tones of my siding and front door.Far and above any other plant I've tried is the beautiful and hardy fuchsia. They were a mother's day gift in May last year, and they bloomed profusely all the way until our first frost in October. The best place to buy them in the Yelm area is Jason's Greenhouse on Bald Hills Road. They have the nice, full baskets ready to hang. Then, the key is to water them often without water-logging them - at least three times a week. They need water throughout the season, especially in the heat of summer, to remain healthy.I also found that by adding a scoop of Miracle Grow to the water every other week keeps them full of blooms. One other key ingredient to big color is picking off the seed pods that form after a bloom dies.If you pick the seeds, the plant continues to bloom over and over again.
Unfortunately, fuchsias do not handle the winter weather well. If you have a sunny room in your house you could try bringing them inside to keep them alive and warm for the next season.

"This is Lance Saunders, and buying a house with Cari was one of the most painless things that i have ever done. I have bought cars that were harder to buy than our new house! i simply told Cari and Kim Harmon with Fairway Mortgage service what I had to work with and they made it happen for me with less than a total of $1000 out of pocket. i would have bought a house a long time ago if i had known how easy it could be with the right people working for you. Thanx again Cari and Kim you ladies are awesome!
